Former Premier Augustine Voldemaras will have to stand trial on the charge that he organized the pogroms which occurred in Slobodka in August of last year. While it was previously known that Voldemaras was instrumental in furthering the attacks on the Jews, the prosecutor had taken no action against him up to now. It is believed that the prosecutor has now decided to prosecute in order to render the former Premier completely harmless as a political opponent of the government by disgracing him abroad and eventually making a future political career impossible for him by preferring a criminal charge against him.
