A memorial monument to the victims of the infamous Nazi concentration camp at Dachau will be unveiled at the camp site on May 5, the 23rd anniversary of the camp’s liberation by Allied forces in World War II. The monument, designed by sculptor Nandor Glid, won first prize in an international competition for the design of the memorial. Glid also designed the memorial that stands on the site of the Mauthausen concentration camp. At least 40,000 Jews and many other anti-Nazis, including Germans, were killed at Dachau.
