Tofic Nigri, one of Rio’s Jewish community leaders, died here at the age of 76. Born in Aleppo, Syria, and educated in Beirut, he settled in this city in the 1920s. Mr. Nigri soon became active in the Sephardic community and later in the representative Jewish bodies as vice-president of the Jewish Federation in Rio and the Jewish Confederation in Brazil.
