Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller will address the opening session of the 73rd national Zionist Organization of America convention, Thursday evening, September 3, in the Waldorf Astoria. The Governor is expected to discuss the situation in the Middle East. More than 1,000 delegates from throughout the nation will attend the ZOA national conclave September 3-6. At the opening session, Jacques Toreryner. ZOA President, will speak, according to the announcement by Dr. Harry F. Wechsler, chairman of the National Convention Committee. Dr. Wechsler also announced that Rabbi Irving Miller, past president of the ZOA, would preside at the opening session. Among the Israeli leaders coming here especially for the ZOA convention is Dr. Elimelech Rimalt, former minister of the Israeli cabinet and prominent General Zionist leader.
Another Israeli leader, besides Israel Ambassador Yitzhak Rabin and Minister Without Portfolio Shimon Peres who will address the conclave, will be Member of the Knesset S. Z. Abramov of Tel Aviv. Mr. Abramov will speak on Friday afternoon, September 4, at a session on “Zionist Ideology in the Seventies.” Speaking with Mr. Abramov at the session will be Prof. Howard L. Adelson, chairman of the Department of History of the City College of New York. Dr. Rimalt, who is a leader of the Liberal Party, and who is coming here especially for the convention will address the Saturday night, Sept. 5 session, devoted to a review of Israel’s political and security situation in the Mideast.
