Chief Rabbi Yehuda Leib Levin, of the Central Synagogue of Moscow, presented to a visiting American rabbi a gift of a 200-year old silver breastplate for the Torah Scroll in the museum of the International Synagogue at New York’s Kennedy Airport, it was reported here from Moscow.
Rabbi Israel Moshowitz, chairman of the board of the airport synagogue and former president of the New York Board of Rabbis, who visited the Soviet capital, said the gift from the Moscow congregation consists of two silver plates, each about a foot square.
