Despite anxiety over the fate of the Jews of Egypt, the people of Israel today ushered in the Chanukah festival with joyous celebration. Lights and torches were kindled on hilltops throughout the country. A torch which had been kindled at Modim, site of the Maccabi revolt, was handed to President Ben Zvi today. Later it was used to light beacons atop Mt. Herzl and Mt. Zion.
