Jews will be allowed to adopt babies of other faiths effective immediately, it has been announced by the Metropolitan Toronto Children’s Aid Society. There has always been a long waiting list of Jews wishing to adopt. For eight years prior to 1959 the Jewish Family and Child Service of Toronto could only find an average of three children a year for adoption. At the end of 1963 there were 90 approved couples on the JFCS waiting list.
