Jewish public relations groups here are concerned about the increased measure of religious education in the schools of the province, especially in the high schools. It has been revealed that instructions have been sent to high school principals under existing enabling legislation to institute religious instructions in the classes. The instruction is to be given by visiting clergymen of various Protestant denominations.
In some municipalities these instructions have already been put into effect, but this is not general. There appear to be some technical program difficulties about the general implementation of the plan. At the same time, there is continuing opposition on the part of Jewish and many Protestant citizens to the principle of religious instructions in the schools of the provinces although no official objections to the program are envisaged at this moment.
