The Toronto Jewish community, 70,000 strong, last year purchased over $1,500, 000 in Israel bonds, a record for any year for a city of this size, it was announced here last night at the Ambassador’s Ball,, an annual event sponsored by the Israel Bond Organization.
At the same time, the first awards in an annual series were made to Canadians who had contributed to the development and improvement of Israel-Canadian cultural relations. The citations were awarded by Arthur Lourie, Israel’s Ambassador to Ottawa.
