Rikabi Pasha, the Premier of Transjordania, is again to resign in deference to the pressure of public opinion, according to a report published here today by the “Falastin,” the organ of the Palestine Arab Executive. The paper adds that there will be no native premier to succeed him, and that in his place Col. Cox, the British Representative in Transjordania, will head the Transjordanian Government.
Rikabi Pasha is accused by his opponents of being against the movement of the Arab nationalists and of having banished many of them from Transjordania, that in pursuance of his political ambitions he has set up an elaborate espionage system in the country, that he has expropriated the land of the people and infringed their rights, that he has made himself Dictator under the slogan “there is only one Emir in Transjordania and that is Rikabi, not Abdulla,” that he has intigued to bring about the annexation of Transjordania by Palestine, that he has been scheming to open up Transjordania to Zionist emigration, that he was responsible for the abolition of the Arab Legion, that he approved the Rutenberg electrification scheme and that he dismissed the Transjordanian Minister of Justice only because he had stood out against Rikabi’s Zionist Immigration laws and his introduction of the Rutenberg undertakings.
