Israel’s Treasury has made its first payment to settlements in the Jordan Valley to cover damage inflicted by Jordanian artillery during last week’s clashes, it was announced today. Under Israeli law, frontier settlements are entitled to full indemnification from the Government for damage suffered as a result of enemy action. The damage is estimated at more than $100,000.
