District Attorney Thomas E. Dewey, candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, in a statement published in the American Jewish Chronicle, declares that anti-Semitism must be treated as “an alien growth upon American soil,” expresses the belief that western civilization has the obligation of furthering the Jewish national home in Palestine and urges a “sympathetic understanding” of the refugee problem.
