The trial of eight Egyptian Jews, including one woman, on charges of conducting Zionist propaganda in Egypt in behalf of the left-wing Mapam Party, opened in Alexandria, it was reported here today from Cairo.
The eight, who face prison terms of three to ten years, are being tried by a military court and are being defended by a team of lawyers including Felix Ben Zakein, vice-president of the Alexandria Jewish community. The defendants are: Albert Azoulai; Robert Grunspan; Albert Gabbai; Andre Cohen; Jacques Jassoun; Joseph Chalom; Albert Suliam and Miss Rose Dayan.
