The probability emerged here today at the trial of two former SS officers on charges of participating in the wartime murder of 500, 000 victims in mobile gas vans that the trial may not be concluded because of “fatigue” of one of the defendants.
The defendants are former SS Major Friedrich Pradel, 65, and his first lieutenant at Gestapo headquarters in Berlin, Harry Wentritt, 63. Doctors reported on the third day of the trial that Pradel was unable to follow the court proceedings because of fatigue. The trial was postponed previously.
