The trial of the seven anti-Semitic students who were arrested when they publicly praised the attempt of Georg Beza to assassinate Dr. Constantin Angelescu, assistant minister of the interior, is now in its second day with gendarmes surrounding the court building in view of the growing agitation of the students who have issued proclamations associating themselves with the attempt to kill Dr. Angelescu.
Twenty lawyers are appearing as counsel for the defense. With order prevailing, the public has been admitted to the court room. M. Stonescu, the public prosecutor, is demanding exemplary punishment in order to impress the students that their aim is cultural development and not the glorification of murder. He expressed amazement that a cowardly deed could be considered as an heroic act by the students.
Counsel for the defense asks that the students be released. The court adjourned after hearing the prosecutor and defense counsel. A verdict is expected tomorrow.
