The trial of seven members of the Paris police force who during the occupation were members of the Jewish section of the Judicial Police opened today in a Seine district court.
The seven are charged with torturing Jews at the Drancy concentration camp, including a group of 40 lawyers. Many of the lawyers will appear as witnesses for the prosecution. The chief defendant, Inspector Lucien Grand, earned the nickname of the “one-armed torturer” at Drancy.
