The trial of Captain Panisoara and three gendarmes charged with desponsibility for the torture of Samson Bronstein, Zionist leader of Yedinez, Bessarabia, last May, and scheduled to open today, was postponed for the third time.
Formal reasons are given for this latest postponement of the trial which was originally scheduled to be held in Czernowitz, last summer, was postponed until October 18th in the same city and later set for December 20th in Yedinez.
Samson Bronstein was arrested last May by gendarmes on charges of being identified with Communist activity, a charge completely without foundation. For six hours he was subjected to such torture that after his release he was confined to a hospital for months and it was feared he would be unable to walk again. Bronstein himself described the torture he suffered at the hands of Captain Panisorara and the gendarmes in a written statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
