Intensified military movements were reported today in various parts of the country while Jewish circles were alarmed by reports that the Arabs were preparing to renew the reign of terror which took more than 300 lives in six months.

Large patrols were posted on the main roads and troops were striking tents on the hills to dominate the surrounding countryside.

Hebrew newspapers were full of reports that Arabs were using a $150,000 Government loan for needy farmers to buy arms and that Fauzi Bey el Kakaji, Syrian terrorist leader, was organizing bands to be smuggled into Palestine later.

The Iraq Petroleum Corporation is bribing Arabs not to attack its pipelines, it was stated. I.P.C. pipes were frequently damaged during the recent disorders, taking a large toll in wasted oil.

Meanwhile, three Arabs held up a motorcade of five automobiles en route to Jerusalem from Jericho, disarmed two Englishmen and wounded an Arab attempting to escape.

Davar, Hebrew labor daily, demanded in an editorial that the Government take strong measures for security immediately before it is too late.

“The Jewish community cannot be frightened,” the editorial said. “We were faced with wild hordes for six months and we are ready to face them again, not merely by defence but by answering the war.”

M. Altman, leader of the right-wing Zionist-Revisionists, addressing a large mass meeting, warned the Palestine Government of new outbreaks and demanded re-establishment of the Jewish Legion, the Jewish battalions which served in the Palestine campaign during the World War.

High Commissioner Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope and other high officials conferred on measures to provide greater security in the face of renewed Arab terrorism while village police units were transferred from the control of Arab officers to British police.

Production of bombs by Arabs is continuing, it was established when a police raid in an Arab village near the Jewish settlement of Herzliah turned up enough explosives for 200 primitive bombs. The owner of the house where the explosives were found was arrested.
