Troper Leaves J.D.C. for Army Post; Dr. Schwartz Appointed European Chairman

The resignation of Morris C. Troper as chairman of the European Executive Council of the Joint Distribution Committee was announced here today by Paul Baerwald, honorary chairman of the JDC. Troper has accepted a commission as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Service of Supply, Fiscal Division, War Department.

Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz, who is now in Lisbon for the Joint Distribution Committee, has been appointed the European Chairman of the JDC. replacing Mr. Trope In announcing his appointment to the new post, Mr. Baerwald stated: “Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz has done a magnificent Job during the time that he has represented or Committee abroad. He has steadfastly refused to consider his personal safety or convenience for the sake of remaining in Europe to direct the farflung relief convenience of our Committee. His broad experience in communal problems and his winning personality has proven to be of invaluable assistance in our work. We are happy to have him serve as the head of our European program.”
