The Israel-Jordan Mixed Armistice Commission today condemned Jordan for the invasion of Israel territory Sunday by a group of Arab Legionnaires, four of whom were killed and two wounded when they attacked an Israel military patrol.
The condemnation was voted by Israel and the United Nations chairman, American Lt. Col. Charles F. Brewster, after Jordan had walked out of the meeting. The Jordan delegation read out an official “protest” against the killing of the four Legionnaires, and then stalked out of the meeting.
An agreement was signed between Israel and Jordan today to permit Transit monks living in a monastery in “no mania land” in the Latrun area to cultivate lands belonging to them. The agreement has been renewed regularly since 1951, except for the seven-month period earlier this year when Israel was boycotting the MAC.
