Former President Harry S. Truman and Israel’s Prime Minister David Ben Gurion will exchange direct greetings with each other by way of a two-way radio hookup at opening ceremonies of the State of Israel’s 10th anniversary celebration in Philadelphia’s Independence Hall on April 24th, it was announced today by Senator Herbert H. Lehman, general chairman of the American Committee for Israel’s 10th Anniversary Celebration.
“This exchange of views and greetings will underscore the community of interests which unite our great democracy with that of the State of Israel. It will also officially open our country’s celebrations of Israel’s birthday, ” Sen. Lehman stated.
A very large turn-out is expected in Philadelphia at the public meeting in Independence Square which is a part of the ceremonies. The City of Philadelphia will be official host at a luncheon in honor of former President Truman and the American Committee for Israel’s 10th Anniversary Celebration preceding the Independence Square events.
