Truman Receives Histadrut Humanitarian Award

President Truman today received the 1951 Histadrut Humanitarian Award “in recognition and grateful appreciation if his wholehearted endeavors on behalf of the State of Israel and his abiding interest in the vital functions of Histadrut, the General Federation of Jewish Workers in Israel.”

The award was presented to the President by Josezph Schlossberg, general chairman of the National Committee for labor Israel, who headed a special delegation to the White House today. Federal Security Administrator Oscar R. Ewing, who at tended the ceremonies, introduced each member of the Histadrut delegation to the President.

The President told the delegation that he appreciated the award highly. “I hope I will always deserve it,” he added. The presentation took place in the Rose Garden of the White House.
