President Truman is still interested “in making possible the entry into Palestine of a substantial number of the unfortunate Jews in Europe,” he said in a latter, dated Nov. 13, acknowledging a memorandum left with his secretary by a delegation of rabbis during last month’s “March of Rabbis” to Washington.
The letter was made public today by Rabbi Baruch Korff, leader of the delegation, to whom it was addressed. It concluded with a reference to the announcement by the American and British Governments of the formation of a joint Anglo-American inquiry commission and to Truman’s letter to Prime Minister Attlee, requesting immediate entry of 100,000 displaced Jews to Palestine.
