Former President Harry S. Truman will address the 45th annual national convention of Hadassah, which will open in St. Louis on September 13, it was announced today by Dr. Miriam K. Freund, national president of Hadassah,
Mr. Truman will be the principal speaker at the opening plenary session of the convention, which will also be addressed by Mrs. Golda Meir, Foreign Minister of Israel, and by Arthur S. Flemming, United States Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare. The four-day convention will formulate Hadassah’s program for the United States and Israel for the next 12 months.
More than 2,500 delegates–representing Hadassah’s 318, 000 members in 1,288 chapters and groups in 49 States and Puerto Rico–are expected to attend the convention, Dr. Freund said. High on the agenda will be a discussion of United States foreign policy and international affairs, with special emphasis on latest developments in the Middle East.
