Harry S. Truman, former President of the United States, will be the guest of honor at a “Jerusalem Festival” in Chicago, sponsored by the State of Israel Bond Organization, it was announced here today. The affair, which will take place in Chicago Stadium on Nov. 28, will mark the 3,000th anniversary of Jerusalem.
Speaking last Thursday evening at a dinner of the American Friends of the Hebrew University, attended by more than 1,000 ghests, Mr. Truman said that in granting recognition to Israel as President of the United States, he was only expressing the sentiments of the American people regardless of political parties. “I acted in the interests of the United States.” he declared, adding: “I had faith in Israel before it was established and I have faith in Israel now.”
