Attorney-General Tom Clark was asked yesterday by President Truman to look into the possibility of using unclaimed property in the U.S. zone in Germany for the aid and rehabilitation of displaced persons, it was learned here this morning.
Following the weekly Cabinet meeting at the White House today, Mr. Clark confirmed that he had received the President’s memorandum but told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that the question had not been discussed by the Cabinet. He said that there was much unclaimed property–real and personal–in the U.S. zone and he will investigate the possibility of its transfer to DP’s.
