Israel is a “child of the United Nations” and the international organization is responsible for the continued of the Jewish State, Trygve Lie, first Secretary General of the UN, declared in an interview here today.
Mr. Lie insisted that a strong Israel is an indispensable link in the defense of the free world in the Near East. He underscored that Israel had made a valuable contribution tot world peace by admitting hundreds of thousands of refugees, including many from the Arab countries. He called upon the world to provide Israel with moral and financial assistance to enable the Israel Government to solve its outstanding problems.
