Many leaders of the Turkish Nationalist Association have been arrested in the latest Turkish Government campaign against racists and ultra-nationalists in Turkish public life.
In line with a decision last month to liquidate the nationalist group because it has conducted “reactionary, racist and extremist activity,” the government has ordered raids to shut down the 72 branches of the group throughout the country. Among the arrested leaders are several editors and at least one member of Parliament, who is also a deputy of the government (Democrat) party.
