Samuel Halevi, journalist and social worker, well known among the Jewish population in the Balkans, was expelled from Turkey under military escort. The cause for Mr. Halevi’s expulsion was his protests against the persecutions suffered by the Jews in the country. He was especially vehement in denouncing the government’s policy of compulsory Turkization.
Mr. Halevi declared that he intends to submit a memorandum to the League of Nations on the oppression of the Jewish minority in Turkey.
