The Palestine problem can be settled by discussing it in piecemeal fashion, Foreign Minister Ethem Menderes told the Turkish Parliament today. He expressed confidence that “it is not impossible to settle the problem of the refugees through compensation.”

The Foreign Minister held that the chief cause for current unrest in the Middle East was the unresolved Palestine question and suggested that work be begun on settling that issue. He charged the Communists with exploiting the situation and by implication criticized the roles of the Cairo and Damascus regimes in this matter.
