A bill giving members of all minority groups, including Jews, the right to hold civil service positions is being prepared by the new Democrat government and will be submitted to the Turkish parliament shortly, it was learned here today.
The refusal to permit non-Moslems to hold government jobs has been a source of much complaint on the part of Jews, Greeks and Armenians, particularly since 1946 when the Turkish Army dropped its discriminatory regulations and permitted all Turkish citizens, regardless of religion or national origin, to become officers as well as soldiers.
