The first visa issued by the U. S. Consulate in Genoa, Italy, under the new U. S. immigration law which went into effect December 1, was given to a United Hias Service client. Moise Mutlu, a 24 year-old Turkish Jew, will now be enabled to come to the United States to join his parents and brother, resettled by United Hias last year in Worcester, Mass.
“Mr. Mutlu would have faced a long waiting period before he could join his family,” James Rice, United Hias executive director, said. “This is only one of the many injustices corrected by the new legislation.” Mr. Mutlu was graduated with distinction as a physicist and mathematician from the University of Istanbul. Faculty of Science. He will be resettled in Worcester, Mass with the cooperation of the local Jewish Family Service.
