The re-organization of the Grand Rabbinate on more modern lines was decided upon today at a meeting of the leaders of the Jewish community, in view of the present policy of the Turkish Government in regard to religious institutions in Turkey.
It was decided that a new constitution regulating the functions of the Chief Rabbinafe should be drawn up and submitted to the
Turkish Government for approval. Until this new constitution is approved, a commission of five has been appointed to administer the affairs of the Grand Rabbinate.
