The collective security pact signed by the Arab League states at their recent meeting in Cairo will bring closer the completion of a peace pact between the Arab states and Israel, Hussein Yaltchin, Turkish member of the three-nation U.N. Palestine Conciliation Commission, declared here today.
Writing in the semi-official newspaper Ulus, Mr. Yaltchin says that the Arab agreement, which provides for the application of economic sanctions on any state which deals with Israel separately, is no threat to Israel. He insists that closer cooperation among the Arab states is a necessary preliminary to stabilization of political conditions in the Middle East. Mr. Yaltchin also hailed the Arab League’s statement that it is determined to solve all conflicts by peaceful means as a formal denial of reports that the current rearmament in the Middle East will lead to a second round of warfare against Israel.
