Erol Dilek, a young Jewish attorney, was named today by General Cemal Gursel, the Turkish Premier, as a representative to the new Constituent Assembly for the Jewish community.
The attorney has been serving as legal advisor for the Grand Rabbinate here. He was a Republican party candidate in the 1957 elections but lost when the Democratic list was victor. The Constituent Assembly will be convened January 6, to approve a new constitution and a new election law. It will end its activities in October when general elections for a new Parliament will be held.
The 272 members of the lower house are elected mainly by professional groups and political parties. Gen. Gursel has the authority to name 12 members and appointed representatives for each minority community under that authority.
