The Lay Council of the Grand Rabbinate of Turkey decided today to build a new Jewish school in Taksim, a modern district of this city where hundreds of Jewish families live. At present it is extremely cult four Jewish children from this district to reach any of the five other Jewish schools scattered throughout the city.
The building is expected to cost 1,000,000 Turkish lira (approximately $350,000) to construct, A private company will be established to float a bond issue to raise the money. The Grand Rabbinate has agreed to underwrite maintenance of the school to the extent of 50,000 lira annually.
