Sentences of from two years to three months in jail were imposed upon 24 Russian workers in the sugar factories at Michaelovsk at the conclusion of a trial at Gluchoff, Ukraine. The workers were found guilty of torturing Jewish workers in the factory. Only a small percentage of the 2,000 employed are Jews.
The trial, in which the charge was anti-Semitism, lasted for four days and attracted wide attention. The verdict was issued at five o’clock in the morning. Hundreds crowded the court to hear the decision. Forty-five witnesses were called.
