A total of 26 lists were presented today to the Central Elections Committee–14 more than are represented in the outgoing third Knesset, Israel’s Parliament–for the national elections November 3.
Included were six minorities lists–three affiliated with Mapai. one with the left-wing Aid at Avodha one in dependent Arab list and one Druse list. There were six community lists, two North African, two Sephardi, one Yemenite and one of new immigrants from Central Europe. A United Agudah list was included.
The elections committee will act on approval of the lists in the next ten days and there is additional time during which lists denied a place on the ballot can seek a court reversal. The successful lists will contest the 120 seats in the Knesset, appealing for votes of 1,179, 329 eligible electors.
