Twenty-three Jewish youths were arrested today in Haifa, a police announcement said, adding that one of them is “a prominent terrorist” who has long been sought by the authorities.

British paratroopers today continued their intensive search in Tel Aviv for terrorists suspected of responsibility for Friday’s attacks on banks in Jaffa and here. Barbed wire road blocks were thrown up within the city and considerable troop movements were reported around it.

Quiet prevailed in Jaffa today during a two-hour Arab strike carried out in protest against the killing of two local Arabs there Friday by terrorists who attacked a local police station and two banks. The funeral of the two passed without any anti-Jewish incidents.
