Israeli officials reported today that two terrorists were killed and a “considerable number” were arrested in one of Israel’s most successful search-and-capture operations in the West Bank area to date against infiltrators. Among those caught were almost all members of a gang which clashed last Tuesday with an Israeli patrol near Benshemen, in the vicinity of Lydda Airport.
Israeli security forces also found significant quantities of weapons and sabotage materials. No Israeli casualties occurred in the operation, which began last Friday, continued over the weekend and was presumed to be continuing today.
