Two Egyptian officers returning home from Europe were yesterday apprehended by Israel authorities when the French liner Providence docked at Haifa, it was announced here last night.
A complaint will be lodged with the mixed Israel-Egypt armistice commission, it was announced, but since this was the first time Arab military personal were discovered among passengers on ships touching at an Israel port, the officers were permitted to proceed. Army officers also announced a warning that if military personnel of any of the surrounding Arab states are found on vessels entering Israel harbors in the future they will be detained.
