Gen. Jurgen von Stroop, former commander of the Gestapo forces in Warsaw during the Nazi occupation of Poland, was sentenced to death yesterday in Warsaw for directing the campaign to exterminate the Jews during the ghetto uprising of 1943.
Capt. Franz Konrad, one of his assistants, was also sentenced to death, the Warsaw radio announced. The trial lasted several days. More than 100 Jewish and Polish witnesses testified against the two Gestapo officers.
