Two Israeli Cabinet members resigned from the government in protest over Ariel Sharon’s Gaza withdrawal plan. The resignations of the chief of the National Religious Party, Housing Minister Effi Eitam, and Yitzhak Levy, an NRP deputy minister, leave Sharon’s government with only 59 legislators, a minority in the 120-member Knesset. Another NRP Cabinet member, Welfare Minister Zevulun Orlev, is staying put for now.
