Two Israelis appeared before a court in Cyprus to deny charges that they had spied against the Mediterranean island. The court set a trial date of Jan. 20 for the two, who were arrested in November on spying charges. Israel has denied the charges, but has not refuted reports that the two were working for an Israeli intelligence service. Former Prime Minister Shimon Peres said last week the two were working to prevent a terrorist act against Israel.
