Two Israelis were killed in two separate incidents along the Israel-Jordan border yesterday, a military spokesman announced here last night.
One Israeli was a watchman at Castel. Six submachine gun slugs were found near his body and his rifle had been stolen. The tracks of three men were traced eastwards toward the Jordan border, the spokesman revealed.
The second man was a member of an Israeli border police patrol which came upon a party of Jordanians illegally harvesting crops 300 yards inside Israel in fields near Meggido. The Jordanians were warned off, but when they did not heed the warning the Israeli unit opened fire on them. One Jordanian was killed.
At this point heavy fire was directed at the Israeli unit from the Jordan village of Zubuviya and the Israeli was seriously wounded. He died today.
