Two Jewish artists have been elected to Aosdana, Ireland’s association for the creative arts. Amelia Stein, a photographer, and Louis Lentin, a theater, film and television director, were chosen from a group of 27 nominees to the elite body in recognition of their career achievements. Stein’s most recent work includes documentary portraits of theater personalities in Ireland and Britain and still-life compositions on themes of memory and loss. Lentin was an early producer of Samuel Beckett’s work in Ireland and a pioneer of Irish and Israeli television. He was the producer of “No More Blooms,” an award-winning documentary about Ireland’s attitude to the Jewish refugee crisis of 1933-1946.
