All preparations have been made for the departure of two Jewish Labor delegations from Palestine to Soviet Russia, it was reported here today at the opening session of the conference of the General Council of the Histadruth, Palestine’s Federation of Labor. The delegations only await the telegraphic consent of the Soviet government before embarking on their journey.
One of the delegations is a medical unit, while the other is entrusted with the mission of “encouraging the Russian fighters, workers and Jews,” it was reported at the conference. The conference also heard reports on Jewish enlistment in the military forces in Palestine as well as on security measures of the Yishub. One of the principal problems which the conference will discuss is how to combat the sharp increase in prices of various commodities, some of which have risen about 200 percent.
