Two Jewish women arrested a month ago for alleged possession of false passports were sentenced here to three years’ imprisonment each. They were tried on the eve of Yom Kippur, and convicted in the absence of their Jewish attorney who informed the court he could not be present because of the imminence of Yom Kippur.

A reported move to form a Union of Jewish Students of Morocco, similar to the Jewish Students Union in France, was denounced today by several left-wing papers, including the Communist “Al Moukafth.” The newspapers alleged that such a move was discussed by Jewish groups here a month ago.
