The colony of Saad, which means buttress, was established today in the Negev, making it the 15th Jewish settlement in the area in the past year. It is situated north of the Gaza-Beersheba highway and located on 1,300 dunems (325 acres) of Jewish National Fund land.
Shortly afterwards, it was announced that a 16th colony, Alumim, established by the Poale Mizrachi, had been set up today in less than 24 hours.
