Two paintings by French impressionist Pierre Bonnard were pulled from an exhibit of his works that is slated to open in June at New York City’s Museum of Modern Art. The owner of the two works said he took the action after the Manhattan district attorney earlier this year ordered the museum to retain two works by Austrian painter Egon Schiele that were said to have been looted by the Nazis. Several museum officials warned at the time that collectors would be wary of lending their artworks to museums.
